"The winner of the second Euro Strings Composition Competition:Two Phantasmas"
The winner of the second EuroStrings Composition Competition that was held in 2019/2020 is Ozan Coskun from Turkey. His composition called “Two Phantasmas” completely stunned the jury that consisted of three notable names – Sergio Assad, Steve Goss and last year’s winner, Nicolas Kahn.
The title of the work is derived from the psychoanalytic term "Phantasma", which describes that fine space between dream and wakefulness — where reality and the patterns generated by the mind intertwine. From beginning to end, it carries the sense of being in the midst of an emotion, yet maintains a fluidity that remains equidistant from every feeling within its emotional dramaturgy. Rather than evoking musical aesthetic pleasure in the conventional sense, it manifests itself in a cognitive and contemplative, meditative context.
